O and by way of my prudeness, it's my humble suggestion to move the nine-post section of this topic that has nothing to do with Burj in the News somewhere else.

Very Happy Hi kirby.. I love that program too.I watched it on ASTRO channel in Kuala Lumpur.

Have you ever been to Kuala Lumpur before ? I heard also a lot about the Sears Tower.

And also I did looked at into some view photos of Detroit Skyline during dusk and at noon time.

Such a lovely panorama of a downtown skyline. Is there any tall buildings so far at the town of Detroit ?

lol... sorry, I haven't looked at this thread since I posted... but to finally answer your questions... I have never been to Kuala Lumpur before... the only countries I've been to outside the US have been Canada, France, and South Africa... but I would love to go see cities like Dubai, Shanghai, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, etc...

Also the tallest building in the City of Detroit is the Renaissance Center (owned by the General Motors Corporation) at 221m (727ft), when it was completed in 1977 it was the tallest all-hotel structure on earth... a title it held until 1986 when it was overtaken by the Swissôtel The Stamford in Singapore... though today it is still the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere.

Nice looking tower, it reminds me of City Gate tower in Ramat Gan, Tel-Aviv, Israel:

Yes, the Renaissance Center "Rencen" has 5 towers - the highest in the middle with the noble rotary restaurant "Coach Insignia" - and it was completed 1977, but the office spaces where opened in the first place 4 years later. Why?

I haven't heard that the building was empty until 4 years after it was built... I believe it was immediatly ocupied by the Ford Motor Company that actually owned the complex.

Okay. No problem.
My information was coined by the German Wkipedia:
Quote:
Es wurde im Jahr 1977 eröffnet, die Büroflächen wurden erst 1981 übergeben.

At the moment, the series "Mega Builders" is running on Dutch Discovery Channel.
On Tuesday 22th May 2007, they have an episode on Burj Dubai.
The program is from 21;00 - 22:00 h. EST.

(The footage of the tower itself is from Autumn 2006).

For the rest, I think the media have been quite silent or ignorant so far concerning Burj Dubai.
Maybe it will change when Burj Dubai tops off Taipeh 101 within a few months...

i was just reading the Burj Dubai Forum on Skyscraper City and I came across this information quoted by someone else.

If anyone has watched the series and recorded or if anyone knows someone else who may have recorded it, can you please get hold of it and upload it on the internet for everyone else to watch/download. please? Also If anyone knows a web link where someone may have uploaded the series, please let us know.

I'm sure it would be a very interesting and up-to-date documentary on some of dubai's mega projects.

Thanks in advance
