I think AltinD summed it up very nicely on another forum:
"- difficulties related to the first floors that require a much much higher precision then the upper floors
- more controls and tests related to the materials
- more difficulties to work in such heights.
Anyway the first floors are always slower then the others, even when you are at ground level." |

| They have probably had fit up problems between the steel and the concrete core. That's a complicated steel structure and they have probably had more fit-up problems between steel members to get to where they are now. A steel erection crew is broken down inti two teams , the erectors who climb on the steel and postion/secure the steel in place with a few bolts and the bolting crew that follows to complete all bolting and bolt tightening. In this case , I don't think that the erecting crew can get too far ahead of the bolting crew, for a number of reasons. This steel has to be placed in the exact postion or they will be in deep trouble farther up. In a high rise building say 40 to 50 floors ( 150 m) and simple framing) a steel erecting crew can place 40 to 50 pieces per day. They are presently at 600 m , on a small floor plate and tying to place complicated heavy steel framing .A couple of pieces a day , maybe. This should get interesting . |

Has anyone seen or heard something about the window-washing equipment?
According Emaar's website, it should consist of 3 telecoping machines. I assume they will be (were already ?) placed on floor 156.
Does anybody know?
Concerning the speed of steel erection: I agree with Schrodinger's Cat: a complicated construction on a realtively small surface, at a tremendous height, etc. etc.
I'm waiting for the first pictures from up above... _________________ Marc
